THE ULTIMATE ANTARCTICA TRIP

Bartelings | Antarctica

The world is full of incredible places, manmade or natural, and Antarctica is among the most magnificent and a place many long to see. Some call it a “bucket list” and we are confident that Antarctica features on many a traveller’s list of dream destinations. Often referred to as “the last frontier”, for some Antarctica conjures up images of cold and bitter long dark days and nights. For others, it is a place of serene beauty, rich wildlife and striking isolation.

“we have chosen a full day Antarctica Experience”

Access to Antarctica has tended to be a major stumbling block as virtually the only way to visit the continent has been by sea, carving a journey through the iceberg-flanked passageways.

Although travellers have a fair amount of choice now when it comes to Antarctica cruises, have you considered offering your clients the alternative? Traveling to Antarctica in comfort and style by private jet is becoming more accessible and with that in mind, Bartelings has curated a suggested trip for those with an adventurous spirit who are keen to set foot on Antarctica.

Bartelings | Ellerman House Hotel

The day before the flight to Antarctica, the team would host a safety briefing, explaining all the kit requirements, assist with any last-minute preparations and update the group on the latest weather forecast. The Antarctic Adventure begins when travellers board our G550 private jet for the 5-hour flight to Antarctica, souring over thousands of icebergs and passing into 24 hours of continuous sunshine. Our destination is Wolf’s Fang runway, situated beneath one of the most iconic mountain ranges on the whole continent.

This sample itinerary includes private jet flights for up to 12 people from the UK to Cape Town (arrangements can be made from any other departure point in the world), staying at the Ellerman House Hotel for a few nights prior to as well as after the full day in Antarctica, giving travellers time for an excursion to Table Mountain or Robben Island.

For those who prefer to avoid the longer sea cruise and in particular the notorious crossing of the Drake Passage, travel by private aircraft offers a range of options, including a full day Antarctica Experience.

Bartelings | Cape Town

The group will be guided on a gentle hike to the base of a nearby mountain where we will host an adventurer’s picnic. For the more daring, one of our seasoned mountain guides will lead a tour to the summit to take in the spectacular views of the Wolf’s Fang range.  Our specially adapted 6x6 vehicles will take our explorers on a tour of the mountains encircling the runway. Later in the day we re-board our aircraft to return to Cape Town, our travellers taking with them this most memorable experience that will stay with them forever.

A few more nights to enjoy Cape Town, the sights, the food, the wine before we return to the UK on our private jet.

It is advisable to plan this tour 12 months in advance and consider the best time to travel during the Antarctic summer from November to March, when Antarctica's wildlife is at its busiest and travellers benefit from up to 24 hours of daylight.
